I have web hosting company, and i am trying to gain some back links. What i am trying to do is create a footer with links to web related services other than web hosting, like design, development, graphics, marketing etc.
Now, i seek your opinion on this format of gaining back links to my site. Also, what all should be taken care of in implementing such idea?

Thanks, but right now i am not looking into more ways, but only the way i mentioned above and its pros and cons on the web site as a whole. I my opinion, you would better to get more relevant links with you business, i think webhosting site is more import for you to get a link! Of course, but wont that be direct competition with the linker? Why would anyone want to it? Actually the backlinks from relevant sites will give your more link juice. marina,
Please can you elaborate on the "relevant" sites? Thats what we are discussing here, whether the links i have in my site footer are going to be of benefit, if so, how much relevancy they carry and if there is a scope the further increase it.

You cannot just ask someone to place your footer links on their site, unless you pay them. It can probably work if it's a reciprocal link exchange, but one way backlinks give more weight. jhoanna,

You are right, i am not expecting anyone to put links on their web site for me without i putting theirs on mine. Thats what the footer is for.
I get that one way back links are better, but what the ways to get them besides the ones mentioned below :
> forum signatures
> blog posts
> paid links
> article submmission

Also, if i got with reciprocal link exchange, is there a possibility of harming my site or getting penalized? instead of using other website linking, my suggestion is that you can use own your linking to maximum no of traffic on your main website for web hosting.
use your blogging links, fourm links and other video stuffing links for your main website traffic this will help you in creation of your business leads from huge traffic. You mean interlinking of web pages of the same domain? Yes, do that but make sure,

To get more 1 way links, you may also do directory submissions, press release submissions, social bookmarking and networking, and blog commenting.
About reciprocal link exchange, I don't think you'll be harming your own website so you better check twice the site you're about to send a link exchange request email. Link farms must be avoided. what do you mean by that.. can tell this question more briefly..
