Stupid, stupid domain prices being asked for ...

What makes some people think that anyone will pay any of the dumb prices that are being asked for domain names?

A quality domain name will earn its money from direct type-in traffic, search engine readability, seo'ing and other factors but some people are clearly delusional when it comes to domain name prices.

For example, would you pay $10 million dollars for a domain name? No? Not even a really good one like business.com which was sold during the dot.com bubble for $7.5 million, the highest price paid for a domain name?

So, what treasured domain name is priced at $10 million? Jobs.com ($800k)? Website.com ($750k)? Property.com ($750k)? Source: DNJournal.com (http://www.dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm)

No, $10 million can buy you the domain, "factorycarcare.com". Or if that doesn't do it for you, how about " friendcreate.com"? WTF!? Both of these, um, beauties are currently on sale at www.tdnam.com for $10m.

Geeze! What's the point? Is there some sort of infectious derangement going around that there are people who will just throw that kind of money at a domain name for no good reason, maybe blinded into abject stupidity by a glamour of witchcraft from watching "Charmed"?

<end of rant> (for now)
