I run a blog with a subject matter that is quite seasonal. Obviously, during certain months I'll be able to post more content compared to other times of the year. From what I understand, Google and all the other search engines LOVE new content. I've even read that some bloggers write 2-3 posts per day. I'm probably writing 3 posts per week, sometimes even as low as 1 post per week.
What can I do during those off months where my subject matter may not be as relevant to still keep my blog optimized and competitive in search engines? I only update my blog once a week. If you don't have enough relevant content into your blog, you can divert your topics from slight relevant topics. For example, if your topic is all about fashion, since you've finish already all fashion topic, you can divert your topics into celebrities and connect slight fashion topics into the that celebrity topics. Try to study your group of keywords for your site and by that start thinking of new relevant topic for that keyword. You can also play along with past topic you have a add information that relates with it so that you can have additional content. Be specific with your topic and discuss everything to be more informative. Quote: Originally Posted by ROGERKLOTZ I run a blog with a subject matter that is quite seasonal. eh?
Seasonal?
What does that have to do with blogging?
You think NFL football blogs and forums slow down off season? Or any other
season sport site?
Off season it the best time to analize and set new goals and plans.
Really, I have never heard of a seasonal blog or a seasonal topic. People
talk about seasonal stuff all year.
Let's say that you have a blog about Vermont maple syrup, (season is just
four to six weeks starting in February). Nothing to talk about the other 48
weeks of the year?
Why then is their sugar houses open all years selling all sort of stuff? At
least they could blog about the products at their store.
Do the people that actually collect the syrup take the other 48 weeks off?
I don't think so. They must be doing something and whatever that is, they
could blog about it.
You just need to get more creative.
Plus, as others have said, blogging two to three times per week is enough.
No one can post 3 times a day and be intelligent about it.
imo,
Bompa Look at other relevant Blogs, and see what they are writing about. It might turn the light bulb on in your head. I think that it is too much to update blog every day, and I think that u really have to study keywords used in blogs. That's all Updating your blog once a week is not that bad. If your subject is seasonal, instead of updating your blog, try to find related blog and have a link exchange so you'll not going to worry much on your rankings in Google or in any other search engine.
