Storing Attachments??

I am planning to enable attachment system in my forum. however i am afraid of database size if i store in database. assume 10-20mb per day uploads.

If i host them as files in folder, how can i protect them from other people. since vbulletin didn't provide any .htaccess file so that only users can download....

Any solution?

We have set up a ftp account with a password for diffrent groups. They can only access what their permissions are set for also we only allow 3 connections to the server at a time. Now as far as band width that can increase greatly and also if to many on server will slow it to a crawl.
Maybe someone from here has a better format I would be intrested to hear..

i don't have BW problem as i am running on dedicated 100Mbps port.

But need an option where anyone can upload via vB and only members can be downloaded. Simply i don't wanna mess my database with attachments and etc...

can any 1 guess how much will be the database size(back up) if daily 20mb uploads goes??

nitins then make one folder on the ftp for nothing but uploads and place the required permissions to it. I will say this I would not allow just anyone to upload on my forums. ftp etc.....this only asks for trouble as there is bound to be some dumbass that will upload a virus or such or even try to gain control..so really think about this.

Take a look at this link
