Starting a new site - what is the fastest way to rank in Google?

I want to take steps that allow me to rank quickly as possible on Google. What are the steps needed for this. Should open avoid a lot of link building too much too soon?

Any check list of what measures someone should take and avoid. What has worked in your experience?

How soon we were you getting decent traffic from Google. I know there are loads of variables such as competition and what not, but anything particular that worked for you? I think you can make use of the SEO techniques like off page seo techniques which helps to build links for the website. Also making use of the social bookmarking and social networking sites helps to get more traffic for the website. It all depends on how rare the keyword(s) you're going for are. You can rank pretty quickly for terms that don't have much competition.

If you're looking for common terms then you should build backlinks from different common sources. Also use social sites and blogs to help. Well, you seem to already know that the best way to NOT rank in Google is to try to rank too fast and build links too fast. Make it look natural and random. Do a ton one day and a little another day.

I'm a big believer in on-page optimization, that is optimizing your website, first. What has personally worked the best for me are articles, and blogs, ESPECIALLY wordpress. I'm in the swiss tourbillon replica watch industry and it works great. Top article sites like ezinearticles, buzzle, and suite101 are excellent for placing your links into, just don't write spam articles!! I've recently written an article about the myth and lie of people guaranteeing first place rankings on google, and within a day of publishing it, ironically it now ranks first PLACE, for a keyword with over 13 million hits.

Not convinced yet? Do some social network integration too. Like Facebook and twitter will definitely help you grow. Write quality posts, Do not make ur blog flooded with all type contents, concentrate on a particular niche. :-) You have to start with your on-page optimization. It's the foundation for any good SEO strategy. If you try to do off-site stuff before your on-site stuff, it's like trying to decorate a house that doesn't have any walls or a roof yet - pointless!

Once you have your on-site optimization done properly, it's time to move off-site. You're right - building links too quickly can hurt you, especially if you're a brand new site. I've had SEO experts tell me not to build more than 10 links per week.

And, before you start your off-site optimization, analyze your competition. See how many links they have, and where they're coming from. Chances are, you might be able to get some of the same links (like, if they have a link from ABC directory, sign up for that directory and get a link of your own from them).

After that, focus on getting quality links. Remember, 1,000 junk links do you no good. In fact, 100 great links just might beat out 100 garbage ones. Yes, it takes more work to get the quality links, but it's well worth it in the end!

And, strive to get links in a variety of ways - article directories, guest blogging, meaningful forum posts, etc. That way, you're getting a good cross-section of links. The fastest way would be to identify really niche keywords which have a high search volume and buidl traffic and orders up that way. Look at a really low comp keyword first. Trial and error will allow you to see if what you are doing works, then you can up your marketing campaign and target higher comp keywords. Most of the times the site gets stucked in between if one tries to blast lots of backlinks to a new domain, while there have been couple of cases where site ranked right through the top within 15 days.
But I will suggest you to make backlinks at moderate pace and try to get quality links like from Ezine, buzzle etc.
Of course before doing this you have to make sure that your site is well optimized as suggested above by couple of members Quote: Originally Posted by nicolebeckett You have to start with your on-page optimization. Nice analogy. And may I add, start a website you really enjoy writing about or at least you have an interest in, so it doesn't feel like work at all. I'd start link building right away, you'll likely Google Dance for a while at the beginning, but unless you're sending out 1k automated links, you won't get sandboxed.

Nicole makes a good point about keeping a wide variety of links, I do think there are a few directories which should fit in there as well as profile style links. Can you post a link to the article you just mentioned it would
help a lot of us out to read it.

Not convinced yet? You can rank pretty much straight away in Google (took me about 2 - 3 weeks) BUT ranking is different to SERPS. You can be ranked 100 by Google but not get any traffic. You're still ranked just not getting anywhere.

If you're referring to first page, then that really is a different matter. Factors such as competitive niches, keywords, search/visitor demands will all play an important role in determining where you and your competitors are listed. Thanks Depends on what keywords you are trying to rank for and how many other websites are trying to rank for the same keyword.

But the more you advertise the better, move backlinks means more traffic, so you should use Web 2.0 article marketing, pinging your site, like I said depending on keywords but I would say about a month and you should see yourself on the first page. Fastest would be buying an exact name match domain and then building backlinks. First Do the on page properly and than start off page, On page is like base of your website promotion so you have to be very careful about the on page because if the base goes wrong you will end up with nothing. when the on page is done than start doing the off page, off page is very vast and broad. So start working. Good luck with ur site. simply its a long term process. but you can accelerate this process by following some techniques.
i think most of the people think that link building means SEO. but no, its a part of SEO. if you are in hurry then go for software or tools that will give you links. i don't know much about software and also don't believe them. but i have read that they are good and give results in a short time.
Don't think Off page optimization is every thing. you also have to care about the on page optimization too. i think there is no need to describe the process of On or Off page cause you can get enough information about them in our Forum.
i think Selection of keywords is the most important to know how quickly you get the Ranking. if you select a keyword which don't have much search in the local or Global search result then its comparatively easy to rank that site for that keyword. but i think it will not give you much profit.
so you have to select some keywords that are medium in competition and Global search is also around 30000.
i think if you work hard or hire some one to do these then you will get PR in a short time.
