SSIS 2008R2 reading/parsing XML datatype from table

I'm new to SSIS. I have a table with xml datatype. I need to read the xml information from that table then parse it and do some data manipulation. But I'm having a datatype error conversion. SSIS can read xml information from a physical xml file but how come it cant from a table? Is there a solution to read and parse the xml datatype from a table?An alternative solution that I can see is read the xml from the table then write it to a physical xml file. Then read that xml file tru SSIS. If this is a solution. how will I read the xml datatype to write it on a physical file.
