I've followed pretty much all the information I can find that seems reliable and honest, but I'm still not ranking very well.the site is http://www.ffshrine.org . the target keyword/phrase is "final fantasy."the number 1 position has 84 backlinks. we have 197. our keyword densities are roughly the same- but ours is a little higher. both pages have a pagerank of 5. we both have listings in dmoz.we're on the fourth page, and they're the #1 result.any other things it looks like I'm blatantly missing would really be appreciated.trim your keyword list down....you are diluting the phrase that you are trying to rank for by also trying to rank for other terms. Move the other terms on to the pages that are about them. For example:from your keyword list "4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, iv, v, vi, vii, viii, ix, x, xi, xii," these could all be moved to pages that deal with different version of FF. Build each one of those pages like you would your entry page and they should rank for those keywords. When a user searches for Final Fantsy 1 your page for FInal Fantasy 1 (http://www.ffshrine.org/ff1/ff1.php) should be what is returned in the serps...not the entry way to your site.Add a footer to you pages...like the one here at ozzu....see below.VVVVVthanks, I've been meaning to optimize that a bit more, it just wasn't given very high priority because it wasn't very important to google, I thought...any idea why I'm ranking so low compared to pages that I have two or three times as many incoming links as?It's your anchor text in your incomming links. I check a few and they all read FFShrine. Help yourself out by finding all the pages in your site that are PR4 and higher. At the bottom of each page add a copyright link and use Final Fantasy in the text and link those words to your front page: http://www.ffshrine.orgThis will help but also try to get those other links changed as well. Some come from good PR pages and are not helping as much as they could.thanks, I'll try some of the things you mentioned.I already have the "home" button link to ffshrine.org with the alt text "final fantasy"... would it make any difference if I have the footer with plain text or not, considering I already have the "home" button with alt text?also, we have our forums archived by google, much like ozzu does... we have about 3,000 pages cached, about 10,000 should be cached eventually. I'd like to exchange footer plugs on the forum pages with someone that has a similar setup, any idea how I could go about looking for that?i believe.. alt text do help but anchor text are better.regards, vijayI vote for anchor text too!I would change add a link at the bottom that says "Final Fantasy Home" which links to the home page or even change the "home" button. As Vijay said, anchor text is way more important that alt tags. How about something like this:?2004 <a href="http://www.ffshrine.org">Final Fantasy</a> Shrine - All rights reserved. The code:Code: [ Select ]
