I was wondering if it is possible to retrieve the TRUE source code of a webpage - not the static html. Because I want to get the source code for a site using server side includes and php.

ive tried Wget, but it just doesn't work out.

help!not without doing anything illegal.there is no possible way that i know of to get server side code. What do you mean by that?

Most browsers give you the option to view the Source Code. The only problem is, nowadays most pages use 'active', bot 'static', coding through the use of servers and such. What I want to view is the exact code the browser receives before interpreting it to me as a webpage - is that illegal?hmmm...
THAT is illegal.
i think what you want is for the source to display what is currently happening (such as the posts on a forum, etc.)
dont believe its possible.Ok if you go here www.eldaronline.com

look on the bottom left column titled: "Who's Online" - the text there changes anytime anyone logs on or off. I want to have the code that makes that happen. But anytime I retrive Source Code through IE, it gives me the static text - the stuff that is currently written there - not the code. See what I mean?try snippetlibrary.com or hotscripts.com . they should probably have a script that does that.yup hotscripts does have such scripts (http://www.hotscripts.com/Perl/Scripts_ ... more2.html), those are perl you can wander over to the php section to see some more :)That's great, but here's the thing: I need exactly THAT code from THAT server and webpage

I want that user tab displayed on MY page.then if you want that one i suggest you email them about it, i doubt they wrote it themselves, they also will be using a perl/php script that they Download ed from somewhere, seeing as there are probably hundreds of scripts out there it's unlikely that one of us will know exactly which script someone usesif you'd wandered over to the php section of hotscripts you would ahve seen taht there is a script (http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/13997.html) that does exactly what you want, wether or not it displays it in the same format i don't know, but you could soon change it so it doesI am sure hotscripts will have a ASP version. There is good reason for not being able to view the server side stuff. Passwords, Roots to Datases etc. Have another look at hotscripts.
