I am seeing a new shortcut at the bottom of search results offering ALTERNATIVE SEARCHES ... Even more interesting is the URL --- I am seeing a new parameter that looks strangely like a session ID&revid=478880798It seems to change with each page displayed ... gotta do more research.EDIT:If you select the ALTERNATE SEARCH it appears Google is tracking clicks and the position the link showed for the alternate term.http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&revid=478880798&q=http://www.mydomain.com/mypage.html&qpos=3&upos=1I don't like this feature... Just a little opinion!!http://www.google.com/searchhistory/loginThis is not the history feature that was recently added ...I have found some references in other forums starting around 04/07/05. They mention it was a limited test --- but NOBODY has touched on the click tracking capability of these links. Maybe this is a new feature?I am quering from Greece, and this feauture does not existsSpain doesn't have it either and don't see it on .co.uk!I lost the "Try Alternate Searches" button...It was appearing regularly whenever I used Google, then I deleted my cookies ... POOF GONE! I can only guess it was a cookie based invite. Google is definately testing several methods of click tracking. I looked at several data centers using the same search query, There was clear variation in the way results were linked.Do you think that gogle are trying to give us what they think we want then?Actually ... I think Google is trying to give what YOU think you want. Click tracking proves that most visitors make selections from the first page .... and few ever go past the second page. Duh ...I think these are limited studies to learn about how searches are being done, results satisfaction, and time spent on selected sites. I don't think this will be an new feature available to everybody.
