SOAP/WebDAV : When to use ?

Hi people,I'm a little confused right now. As WebDAV is the standard being used inExchange 2000 on the WSS portion, could someone explain to me just why SOAPwasn't used instead ?Since what SOAP basically does is enable objects to be called over HTTP,why didn't they just , for example, wrap the CDO object in SOAP and allowit's methods to be called?I'd really like to know when and why we should choose to use SOAP or WebDAVin a collaborative messaging environment, or a multi-channel(pager,email,sms,etc.)messaging environment.Cheers
