Oh man...I'm so upset.
We were on page 2 at the top for our most popular keyword terms with Google. Maintained the position for several months.
I left a cosmetic forum that I had been posting on for 2 years. Pulled my link from my profile. That's the ONLY thing I've done.
Few days later.....Google buries my site on page 13!
Only thing I can figure is the loss of the link from that forum. So I quickly reinstated my link!
Question: Do you think I will regain my SEO rank after Google crawls that forum site again?
And how often does Google crawl?
Sales are in the pooper, and of course this happens when I need to pay for my daughters wedding and help my 20 yr old with moving expenses! Hi Lori:
This is the first time that i've come across the fact that pulling a link out of forum sigs would affect your ranking. I've always thought that once google crawls a particular forum post, it won't bother with that again. Please do tell us what happens after you reinstated your sigs!
Thanks! Wow. Never heard of that happening before.
Keep in mind that other people increase their backlinks to their pages, too. So as Google does its index refresh it sifts through the sands.
If it was because of your forum that you posted to for 2 years, that's quite a strong backlink! Hi, Loridori4
In my own experiences, if you have change your anchor text to another different niche for the links on that forum, I think it might need longer time for Google to recognize your change. Also, time might not be a problem since Google has already picked up your change for that forum.
all the best, I am pretty sure that it is not only because that forum links... Better try to find out if you changed something else. you could have overbuilt your links. okie dokie...so I added the link back to my forum sig. Now, 2 days later, I get bumped from page 13 to page 21!
Haven't changed a dang thing on the site. Wondering now if Google is just playing around with their algorithms?
Didn't change anchor text.
Noticed most of the sites that were ranking by mine are gone too. This is weird, and so very not good for business!
Must get on QVC! Can you provide the URL?
In this instance, you can't blame it on fierceness of competitors since you didn't drop a few ranking spots. Perhaps a major link disappeared too. Without the URL everyone is just guessing though.

all the best, True, true. It can take awhile for rankings to change even after a new link is indexed or de-indexed.

Must get on QVC! Do you think you should really rely too much on that forum link? I guess you should try to analyze your site again. What's missing? Is there anything that you should do to gain the rankings again without relying too much on that forum link? Have you checked your backlinks?
There are lots of things that should be considered. Good luck! This is puzzling. Like others, I would tend to bet that it is not the removing the link from a single forum page that did you in. I see my rankings fluctuate occasionally, but of course that goes both ways--up and down.
I would tend to think that you lost some important links, or that the links you have became devalued. There is an excellent piece of software called SEO Spyglass that lets you check out your backlinks, and the
