simple text scroller wanted

There are lots of scrollers around, but I want one with two specific features.

First, I will the scrolling text to be in a table or bordered box, not the status bar.

Second, I want the scrolling text to be in a separate box, not contained in the html file. This will allow my friend to update a text file in notepad, and not have to dig through the page I build.

Any suggestions on a script will be appreciated.
