Similar theads

I saw a hack on another forum (But can't remember what one)...

At the end of a thread- It had a list of about 5 threads that were 'similar' (Similar threads).

I've had a look around here, but can't find it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Ps. I don't want the 'check if already posted' hack. That is totally different.

Thanks

How Does That Work Dude, I Cant Get It To Work!

It doesn't add it to threads already posted, but when a new thread is posted- it will display similar threads at the bottom.

If you've not already enabled it-, it's located here-

AdminCP>>VBulletin Options>>VBulletin Options>>Thread display options (Showthread)>>Show Similar Threads?

Set to Yes.

Ah.. no well from what I can tell.. this will only show it at the end of a thread, and only for threads that are posted AFTER you turn the feature on.

But.. MAYBE you can run the maintenance tools and it will appear in older threads as well. I'll give it a a go and let you know.

I'm sure you can edit the template and move the code to the ad after first post template, so that way it'll show after the first post in every thread :)

Yes!! It worked a treat!!

AdminCP->Maintenance->Update Counters->Rebuild Similar Threads

So.. all you need to do it go to-

Showthread templates->SHOWTHREAD

Find:

HTML:
$similarthreads

Remove it

Then go to the ad template that shows ads after the first post, and add that code there.

Sorry I don't know what template it is as I don't use ads on my site.

I've not tested this, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work.

You may need to rebuild similar threads AFTER you add that code to the ad template.
