Side Bar?, Not via Product/Plugin By code?

Hello, I am in a bit of a tiddle.

I want to add a side bar to the right but what code i use, HTML! as i want to code it my self. as i have a div side bar on my main site and want to add it on my forums?

Copy the Sidebar HTML from the main site and add it to a sidebar template, then you'll have to refernce that template in your header or w/e. I'm being sketchy cos I have never done it.
 
There is a product for this though, it would probably be easier to install it and nab the code.

Edit; Here are the files I'm referring to, At least, they show up in my archive of mods ;P
