You would assume that more traffic would increase the amount of money that you are going to make in sales, or ppc advertising. To look at the same thing would be to say that a plastic surgeon is not a good doctor because he isnt the best at delivering babies. It has no bearing on his skills. Some people are specialized, and some are more broad based.
The reliability should come from you examining their portfolio, and past results. This should give you a good way of determining if the can help your business or not.

In my own experiences, SEO itself would be the best channel for Internet Marketing purpose in the long run. It would not only drive traffics but also build reputation of your sites online. Of course, you could choose other IM channels like PPC or Social media to promote your sites, too.
