should I keep old pages?

Hello,As I'm experimenting with SEO, over time I have given different names to the same html pages. But I always left the old pages on the server so I won't loose their incoming traffic. As the main navigational links are always the same, the navigational links on the old pages are valid. So if somebody arrives at an old page and clicks on a main navigational link he will just enter the current site (otherwise he just keeps on surfing the old one, which is not broken). None of the old pages are accessible from the current up to date site. I know that one could use redirection, but I think what I do is better for the user. Now I have losts of duplicate content. Nearly same pages with different file names. And I noticed that google keeps on showing the old pages in the index. My questions are:1) is there anything wrong with doing this? Do I risk getting black listed by google?2) why do the old pages, which are never linked to from the current site, show up in google? My site is crawled regularly and the new pages show up there as do the old ones. How long will the old pages stay there?Thank you for your time.michalczyk wrote:
