Hello how is everyone dong today? I am working with a new client and would like get some opinions on the goals that I have set out for them for the first three months of service and see what you guys and gals think of them. A little about the company, they are an established company that is going with a new site, and new domain name. So they are basically starting from scratch.
Below are the goals:
1. To achieve 200-300 back links through forum, blog, and article posting.
2. To achieve 75 relevant back links from quality partner sites.
3. To have site indexed by google, bing, and yahoo.
4. To ensure that new content is available on a monthly basis for the website on a monthly basis.
These are the goals that were set by myself and the client. I am just looking to see if you think that they are to low, or are on par for a new website and domain.
As always, your input is always appreciated.
Thanks
N-Touch I guess it would depend on how much they are paying you in those three months and on the quality of the work? Why not start with:
1) Adhere to Google guidelines (Site performance, crawlability, robots.txt, etc.)
2) Nail down a master keyword list
3) Set up proper benchmarking
4) Identify direct competitors and benchmark
5) Conversion/event tracking
6) Find high authority relevant blogs, forums, and article directories
Don't neglect the fact that a site that ranks #1, usually has something good to offer, not always I know.. don't bite my head off! I'm trying to say, I guess, is that there is a correlation between high ranking sites, usability, and quality content. Hopefully the demand is there in the first place, and you checked that out first. I agree with everything you put in there Brad, and thank you for the response. I may have not worded myself correctly and for that I apologize. We have the key words and phrases list (with total breakdown) that we are going to use. We set down with them yesterday and went over all of the ways that I will help, and the ways that they can help as well. I was just looking for a way to get goals to them so that they could see results since they are a brand new website, so that they would know all of their actions are paying off.
Since they are not even in a search engine now, the goals themselves had to be adjusted from what you may look with a company that is somewhat established and looking to rank higher than what they are now. I would like to ad before the site launch and with your key word/phrases selected you have 100 or more articles for your blog. These articles are in the niche, have back links to the main site and at least 2 links to authoritative sites associated with the niche with the anchor text being your keywords.
After the sites launch make sure every day or two post one of those new articles and FB and tweet them. Quote: Originally Posted by n_touch Hello how is everyone dong today? N-Touch I would throw out the link buying. Why don't you focus on content and social media optimization. Your client would be much more secure and Google complaint. They are pretty standard goals.
I dont see any ranking targets though??? you can add as many links as you want but the clinet will not be happy if your not on page 1 I was a little worried about putting in a ranking goal right from the beginning of the first month, of course this is something that I will put into the second quarter of the marketing campaign. These are set up only as goals for the first three months of a new website and domain name. I believe telling them that they will hit page one in three months may be a little ahead of what they are trying to achieve in the long run. They are going against companies that have domains and sites that are 5-10 yrs old, and are constantly at the top. I am not trying to fill them with sunshine by saying in 3 months of their launch that they will be above these businesses, but start by creating them the foundation that they will need to not only be able to compete but stay above most of the businesses that are content and not continuing the work that got them there.
