I have a very frustrating problem:
I am administering a new RedHat server and the hosting company has installed a virtual hosting package which includes MySQL. They can't seem to tell me what the MySQL root password is, and it isn't blank.
How can I set it? I can log is as root, but even when I do MySQL says "Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (using password: NO)". I tried to shut down mysql using "mysql stop" and "mysqladmin shutdown" but it still tells me Access denied.
What can I do??
