Sessions in ASP.net?

How are sessions maintained in ASP.net? In ASP session values are stored as cookies on client&#039s browser. Same case with asp.net also? Is it posible to have a session without enabling the cookies in ASP.net?ASP.NET sessions store values in cookies on the client&#039s browser much like ASP 2 and 3, but ASP.NET provides richer functionality for maintaining state.
