Hi,We have three linux servers with sectorlink.com and all servers have only webmin as control panel. We need to use the desktop of the linux but the server is provided without it.We want to install that in the linux OS and can anyone help us how to find a company doing this. Are you looking to access the desktop remotely, via some sort of remote management software?

What are the current specifications on those three servers?

I might be able to find a solution to what you need.

Sincerely,

chenetworkHi,You will not be able to use the desktop UI (if thats what your refering to) of the server, even if you have it installed. This is unless your in front of the server.Hi,
You will not be able to use the desktop UI (if thats what your refering to) of the server, even if you have it installed. This is unless your in front of the server.

Incorrect.

You can install whatever desktop you want to use such as GNOME and then install VNC which will allow you to access it as a desktop.Yes,We tried to install the desktop in one of the servers today and tried to login like what was told there but it was found that there is some issue with my isp here and i am unable to connect to the vncOn one of the other treads (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=644109) someone mentioned Core Networks (http://www.corenetworks.com). I have not personally used them, but they offer dedicated servers with IP/KVM access. This would allow you to use the Linux desktop as if you were directly connected to it without needing VNC.thanks i had installed the vnc by using seeksadmin.com server management company. They had done this with the base admin pack i hve with them.,The vnc works fine,Hmm, could allways use a dedi server with KVM/VNC over net or VPN access? Think i have a copy of just about every flavour of linux running, those crazy clients! Allthough I do find the VNC faster than the raritan IP KVM over VPN.VNC is always best choice rather than having KVM over ip.
VNC overrides the hang ups that came up with KVM.Actually, I think your best bet would be to find a provider that can offer a server that has lights out management including onboard KVM over IP. Many Dells and HP servers have this option, and SuperMicro does now too. I can tell you from experience that the SuperMicro KVM cards are pretty sweet, and they actually utilize a Raritan KVM over IP chipset (they create relatively high end KVM over IP products).ILO is lovely and so is DRAC, but DRAC was mostly free and the advanced pack of ILO costly.. so see what your host charges ( depends on the kit your running on ). Plus you can then whatch the bios at boot, etc.. as opposed to fingers crossed and wait for VNC to come back online. ( the later only in the worst case scenario ).So VNC = free, KVM ( whichever method ) will probably cost but gives you complete lights out control.
