So i have a list of about 20 keywords that i want to rank for on my site. I know yeah focus on about 2-3 but i see that in the meta tags for my site i can have like 20 keywords. SO

Is it good to have 20 keywords in your meta tag?

Should you put the most important keywords in the front of the tag?

Also should you mix up the order of keywords for the different pages on your site or can it be the same list of keywords in all the pages meta tag? Google and other various search engines don't read the meta tag content anymore, and haven't for quite awhile now. so how do i effectively alter my site to get ranked for different keyword? Just place keywords in the content? Place it in page titles? what is your advice? Quote: Should you put the most important keywords in the front of the tag? yes, thats how it supposed to be.

google aint gonna take this into account for ranking. however some other se still count this.

for google you have to focus on content, on-page seo, link building. that is possible to do. But i still suggests you to limit your keywords to 4-6 only, so that you won't have any difficulties when it comes to promoting your website. There are a number of different 'meta tags':
- Meta 'Keywords' Tag - don't bother with them, Google doesn't use them anymore and neither do most of the other search engines
- Meta 'Description' Tag - the description is not used to rank your site, so you should create useful and descriptive text to encourage click through's for your visitors
- Meta 'Title' tag. A big factor in terms of rankings. put your most important words toward the front and try and focus on your most important key words as the more you add, the more the effect of each keyword is diluted. I wouldn't go too far above 80 characters as this might look Spammy. Your title should also read well and not be a list of keywords which also might look like spam. There's a lot of ways to effectively rank for keywords but nothing is an easy fix. You use to be able to just put words in your meta tag, google would read them, and you would rank, however, it got abused by low quality sites and search results coming on google ended up being really bad.

Asking how to rank for certain keywords is a pretty complex and extensive question. You're essentially asking, how do I do SEO for my entire site. People make livings off of answering that question forums like this one is almost all dedicated to some sort of SEO practice or another.

To give you a basic rundown here's what I would do.
