Send a gridview linkbutton commandargument to a user control in the pageas

I have a page with a gridview, and a user control, the idea is take the command argument of a linkbutton (after a user click on the linkbutton cell) in the gridview to send it to the user control, but it seem is impossible to capture the row index of a gridview before the user control page load event fires, Is that possible?Thanks in advance.
