Hello, I'm looking for a managed dedicated server with Linux, but I'm not sure about some of these providers. I was looking at AcuNett earlier today, but then I saw their own Web site was down later, which gives me bad vibes. I'm also looking at MojoHost and ServerMatrix, and I got a quote from HostingandDesigns.
I need a managed dedicated server with Linux, at least 1GB of RAM, and at least 1.5GB of transfer, MySQL, PHP, CGI, SSI, etc. I really want reliable/quick response tech support, but my budget is limited to about $250 a month. I already contacted RackSpace and I can't afford them.
What would you guys suggest on my budget? Have any of you had good/bad experiences with the hosts I mentioned, or would you suggest a different host altogether?
I'd appreciate your help. I always find this process discouraging. $250 a month is not going to get you a high quality managed service unfortunatly.
You could post in the requests section although I'd be very careful with any company who would offer the service you are looking for at your budget.
Thanks
JohnYou can't really put a price on management until you know what needs managing. What are you planning to use the box for?DanIt's just to keep my Web sites online, so I want tech support that will get my server running shortly after it crashes, and will install software when I ask for it (so I won't have to ask 20 times) and will fix my MySQL when it needs it (without lying to me that it's going to be fixed right away). I have had too many outages that last more than 24 hours and all sorts of hacker and hard drive problems. I'm sick of it. Right now I can get away with it because my Web site is a niche and the people who love it will always come back. But once I add some online stores to the server, that thing will need to stay online. And I'm not talking about having my own shopping cart, etc., just affilate and outsourced stores, but they will need to stay online or I will lose traffic and customers.
So none of you would recommend the Web hosts I mentioned? Do you need a dedicated server ?You can get some really high quality shared hosting plans if you look, might be worth posting in the requests form ?JohnObviously I need one, otherwise I wouldn't be using one now, or asking for managed Web host opinions.Sorry, your post didn't make it obvious your currently on a dedicated server. As I said before you'll struggle to get a quality managed server for your budget. With uptime/availability being important to you the only recommendation I can make is to increase your budget.Johni just remove it, i didnt know what to say, any way sorry for that...isn't that self promotion ?i remove it...If it's just basic and you need a server that stays up, you should be able to squeeze what you want in right at the top of your budget.
Remember you pay for quality, a $100 "managed" server just isn't going to cut it.
Danif you dont care about /where/ the server is hosted, check out www.netelligent.ca ..they have sound support and quick response..a person actually picks up when u call
