Section 508 ADA Compliance

From everyones friends at more.net I recived a table of contrast listing. I'm wanting to know the cut off for passing when it comes to the 508 standards with the ADA.

here it is...

The brightness of a color can be calculated by using this formula:
RED * 0.299 + GREEN * 0.587 + BLUE * 0.114
Where RED, GREEN, and BLUE are numbers between 0 and 1.

Subtract the darker color's brightness from the brighter to determine
the contrast. I do not know what constitutes "sufficient" contrast.

Here's a hexadecimal to fractional decimal (i.e. FF = 1.0) table.
All values (except top left and bottom right) begin with "0."
For example, from the original email, AEA999 = 0.682, 0.663, 0.600;
0.682 * 0.299 + 0.663 * 0.587 + 0.600 * 0.114 = 0.661499 brightness
this gives me the first part! the contacts i've been given are for a mary lou, and ken. Has anyone had experince with this? i'm wanting to have this thing live in a new format before weeks end!

i like colors! and draurings!
chris<pixelmonkey>:monkey:AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! why cant i find a strait answer!? all i want to have happen is someone, anyone! from the ADA to contact me and say "your site fails!" then an electronic document sent to me saying the same thing!

i'm pulling my hair out here! can someone give me the right direction!?
chris<pixelmonkey>:monkey:careful, careful...if you pull all that hair out we can't call you monkey boy anymore :D

how about these sites, I am not sure if they help.
http://www.section508.gov/
http://www.cast.org/bobby/yesterday the clouds parted, people laughed, and the answers to my questions came to life!
1.) The contrast levels that were once a requirement for an ADA 508 compliant site have been dripped!
2.) A grandfathers clause does exist for all contaent currently posted, so the "old" pdf files are ok to remain!
and the rest i had better not speak of... anyhoot, our site is now up to the 508 standard and keeping everyone happy!

thanks!
