I want ask a query to members of this forum about site meta description. I have a website in which Google search engine crawler is not getting description meta tag from the website but at the place of meta description crawler taking content from the website home page.

What is the reason that crawler is not going at our site meta description? Please share your views.

I think its not a good situation for the website. when we search rank on a particular keywords then search engine always display meta title and meta description of website ar search engine result page.

Thanks Google change its indexing algorithm time to time. New change is the result of recently change algorithm.

I am not agree with your this view. How do you know they are not crawling your meta tags? If your meta tag is not relevant to the search terms used them Google will look further, like the content of the page, to find a better snippet to display. It can take hours, days, weeks or even months before your meta information can be updated. i don't think the problem is in the " relevant meta description " this can be due to the sudden change in the Google algo, or may be some other problems in your meta tag. i think you should check it. here's a good source of info from Google with some reasons why they might not use the meta description:

Another video. Notice the keyword "often" is used:

Thanks Google has decided that your meta description is not relevant to the search query. Look at what google is incorporating from the body of your web page and try and incorporate some of that into your meta description. The most obvious thing would be is the keyword in your meta description. Also it could be that you meta description is too long.
