Screen Resolution or Screen Area?

Hi guys! Ive always wondered why most web designers state that their website is 800x600 screen resolution when in fact, 800x600 is the screen area size. isn't resolution measured in dpi units as in Photoshop images? :DScreen resolutions has been debated quite a bit.

If you design a site at 1024x768 anyone with their browser resolution set at 800x600 will have a scroll bar at the bottom of screen.

Page layout is best if designed in percentages, while graphics work best when they are at least no wider than 800 so the edge of picture is not cut off.

Here is more info;
<<Forum Search Results Here>> (http://www.htmlforums.com/search.php?s= ... genumber=2)Those forum search result links only seem to work for a few days, then the link becomes invalid.:arcade: never noticed that before.

If nothing else, the idea that a search would be productive was made.

I am always amazed at how many questions can be answered by searching here.

Some times I have noticed how folks don't know quite how to phrase a question until they see how someone else went about it.
"How do I put them picture thingeys onto html?" ;)
