Hey Guys,
Is it possible to run multiple sites out of the same web space and have google see them as separate sites? Or am I going to need to buy a new hosting plan for each site I set up..I would like to try making some affiliate sites as well as a site for one of my friends and am wondering if I need a separate hosting package for each one to be viewed as a separate site on google...any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Some people think that they have to have seperate IP addresses, but i think that is only for link swaps.
Just for ordinary run-of-the-mill website running I cant see the problem?
I have four different hosting plans with about six sites on each, and haven't had any problems... If you are not going to link the websites with each other then there is no problem. If you are trying to build links between all the sites as an SEO tactic to improve SEO on all sites, it is more effective to have seperate IPs for each site.
If you are currently using shared hosting (which I assume you are), chances are you can buy dedicated IPs. This means that you will maintain the same shared hosting that you already have, and get a block of IP addresses that you can use for different websites on your hosting plan.
This is a much cheaper option than buying separate hosting plans for each site with the same effect. That doesn't sound right to me.

And then at Search Engine Journal Loren Baker quoted the above then commented:
Quote: Of course if you have 1,000 sites running on the same IP address which all link to each other and to bad linking neighborhoods, the PageRank between those links which are being passed along should be diluted and if some of those sites are practicing questionable methods of, well, spamming Google ?having them all grouped together should set off some kind of red flags.
On the other hand, such linking would not be natural, so if the sites were all hosted on separate IP
