Removing Dupes large database

I need a quick way of removing dupe entries in a MySQL database, I am dealing with 50 million entries.. and doing a select statment takes way to long (3.4s), The database is hosted on a PIII 1Ghz (512MB ram) computer, is there any internal MySQL functions to handel this? or am i SOL?

Any help would be greatly appericated!
