Rand Fishkin of SEOMoz attacked Aviva directory with a baseless statement that his directory is not an authority and not worth submitting to since it didn't show up in the SERPs for the terms present in its title! Well this is something really foolish because a reputed guy like rand giving out such statements is not called for any day! I kept an eye on this debate and put myself in to it to put some of my valid points. Here is my post where you could find more about this war Rand attacks Aviva! Well you should keep a check on the web industry as there is a lot of things happening and when would somebody take a u-turn you never would know!I don't see how that affects me in the least. They can fight all they want.I have not like the Aviva Directory for awhile now. Mainly because I signed up as an affiliate, got at least a 1/2 dozen sites to submit, not one commission. Contacted them 1/2 dozen times, not one response.@vetofunk - Jeff here from Aviva Directory. The way the affiliate system is set up, when people submit their websites, affiliates get credited with the commission right away. However, we have very strict editorial standards, and a lot of websites don't get accepted. A full refund is given for any website not accepted. Before we make any affiliate payments, we delete the commissions of any site that was not accepted. We can't pay commissions if there was no sale. While I'm not sure what your affiliate id is, the above is probably the reason why it looked like you earned a commission and did not receive it. If you PM me your affiliate id, I can look into this matter more closely.I don't recall ever receiving an email from you. We do respond to all emails from affiliates very quickly. Many people are making some decent money on the Aviva affiliate program and some have even gone so far as to set up websites dedicated to earning money from Aviva affiliate sales.Update - Jeff was very helpful in finding out why I was not getting commissions from the affiliate program. He went through and sent my late commission payments. Besides the little problem we had here, it's a good directory for a few reasons:*Note - Always liked the directory, just was irriated with the commission problem.1/ Good PR on most of the categories.2/ After submitting my sites, they were always added within a day or two.3/ You need to be careful with what directories you submit to, because something search engines will not see links from them to your site. I looked at numerous sites, including my own, and am getting Google to see the backlinks from this directory.
