A guy was just making a pitch at our company claiming ability to better the positon of the company web site.
One of the claims was that generating lots of untargeted traffic by hooking up with exit pop ups from porn sites, and posting, 'hey look at this -> our url' in chat rooms just to get any kind of hits through the site would magically help placement in the metaengines. Which are the metaengines and why should traffic alone affect search engine positioning of any kind.
He also has a 'system' to posting to newsgroups that I think will end up biting us.
I think the guy is full of it, but I need some compelling evidence to bring to the boss before he wastes our time and his money on slick tactics.
