I just wanted to post this to let everyone know about my experience with Rack911. When I first registerd here in 2004, I tried to hire Steve, but things didnt work out like I had planned. Communication was the biggest issue, as Rack911 had a lot of email issues. That has all changed now. I had contacted Steve a few days ago to update my kernel and a few other small tasks, and all I can say is WOW!
Not only did he get going right away, but there have been none of the issues from the past popping up. Work was completed in a timely fashion and I am completely satisfied with the level of service. I usually do all of my own work, but not being a kernel expert, I figured I would leave it up to someone who is. To me this was money well spent. I would say that if you need a good admin, Steve is the man. Thanks for taking the time to win me over and a job well done. :peace:Nice review. I've been checking out Rack911 for a while now, and will be contacting them when I need some work done that is beyond my knowledge.I don't know Steve personally, but I do know one of his friends (out side of wht) really well. He says that Steve is a great guy and knows his stuff inside and out. If I needed something done that was outside the scope my knowledge I would consider Steve.Steve is certainly an expert at what he does. A true gem in the hosting industry.Steve is truly amazing, he's done various work for us and not failed at it once.

DanRack911 is great !They upgraded new kernel for my server is very nice !Steve is indisputably the man. Whenever I have a problem that requires some real expertise, I always turn to Steve and so far he hasn't let me down.Thansk for the review, I've heard exactly the opposite many times. So I think maybe the tables are turning. It was horrible for me I dont know what you guys are talking about...Just kidding, Steve is indeed the man, and always gets the job done, and done right the first time. I've used him on several ocasions (including the kernal upgrade) and it went smooth and perfectly every time. And i plan on getting some more done over the weekend.Thansk for the review, I've heard exactly the opposite many times. So I think maybe the tables are turning.Really? I have haven't heard many people say bad things about steves services.. Was it here on WHT? If so what the are the links to the threads? Thanks for the review chris.Freebsdmike theres been many, but we have changed. Mainly related to communication problems./me stands corrected.Rack911, in my personal experience, is the rudest most unprofessional company out there.Steve is rude, and during the course of trying to see if he could do the services I needed, he stopped responding to IM's, and e-mails. He didn't even give the courtesy of saying he couldn't do the job, or anything of that nature.I wouldn't trust him, really. Who's to say he wouldn't ignore a customer who's already paid? When I finally did get his attention on AIM this was his response:18:07:09 r911steven: you can f--k off, man. I have numerous customers and if I piss away a couple, who cares?Wow.I personally think that he's a scam artist, because no intelligent businessman would ignore a potential client. However, it should be noted that that's my opinion strictly.I would strongly advise any host considering retaining this person's services to think twice, then thrice, and walk away. It's a safe bet you'll get ripped with this guy.I never said that mcipdns and you know it. As I stated CLEARLY, I attempted to e-mail him not once, not twice, but thrice. All of these efforts were ignored.

it's just par for the course that he ignores IM's.Look who the professional is.Well, I'm not a businessman. I don't run a business, so of course i'm not a professional. You, however, are. You run a business, and as such need to be a professional.Oh, and if you're such a professional, then why did this happen:http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?threadid=274547&pagenumber=1A simple Google search shows that you, Steven Ciaburri, own rack911.com, but used to be known as thelinuxguy, and by YOUR OWN ADMISSION have messed with peoples' domains with little concern for others-- the downstream customers. So why should people trust you? You're a THIEF, and the admission comes from your own mouth. That was 05-20-2004. It is now july 21 2006, things change people grow up and mature, unlike you. I know it was bad, but you dont see any of that happening anymore do you? No. All i see is a childish person telling me I beat my family and children and that I told you i can **** off a few clients because I dont need them. Ohh such is life.mcipdns, Please go be a TROLL some place else. That was 05-20-2004. It is now july 21 2006, things change people grow up and mature, unlike you. Ohh such is life.

So if you've grown up and changed, why the handle change? Attempting to pull off a scam?

There's no excuse for what you did.

And you know full well you cursed me out and treated me like crap.

Makes me wonder how you treat your customers. So if you've grown up and changed, why the handle change? Attempting to pull off a scam?

No, I feel steven is a better then thelinuxguy as people on wht refer to me as Steve/steven

I did not curse you out, I have never cursed out a client. If you claim to be speaking the truth. Please start speaking it.If you claim to be speaking the truth. Please start speaking it.

Truth?

1.) You're a thief, by your own admission.
2.) You cursed me out and ignored me when I was trying to be a potential customer.
3.) You're not concerned with being a businessman, but with taking peoples' money.

Want more truth?

It's coming cupcake ;)So if you've grown up and changed, why the handle change? While you arent a "businessman" i'm sure a class in common courtesy would surely help. No one will take you serious when you start spouting off like a tool.1.) Ok2.) I never cursed you out.3.) Ask any client, I DO NOT TAKE MONEY UNLESS THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THE WORK.Its true, He didnt ask for a single dime until all work was completed and after i inspected it all.1.) Ok

2.) Yes you did, and you know full well that you did. I'm waiting for my public apology.
3.) I highly doubt that...anyone worth their scruples takes money in advance.I do not take money in advance, you can ask anyone.3.) I highly doubt that...anyone worth their scruples takes money in advance.

No money was asked of me till the work was completed.mcipdns, I suggest you stop making false statements and accusations. You are clearly talking complete rubbish and will most likely face a ban from these boards for your posts (most of which are completely irrelevant and inappropriate). I will be reporting your posts. As everyone knows, Steven does not ask for payment until work is completed, you are talking complete crap in a pathetic attempt to damage a very highly regarded persons reputation. It's just not going to happen, you look stupid.DanPlease guys, dont feed the trolls, the mods will be along soon enough to clean this thread.:lovewht:My review about Rack911 - is very professional services, Steven save my servers several times when nobody understand what's going on - I give him 10 out of 10 . Responses is allways professional and his level of knowledge is amazing. Money ALLWAYS paid only after service is delivered in satisfactory matter.

To Steven -> Ignore this m$ron

To Mods -> Why you don't take actions and at least lock this false thread ? Somebody feel boring and trying to damage reputation of one of most respectful members of WHT.

1.) Ok
2.) I never cursed you out.

Lets get this back on track as the troll feeding hour is over. He's not a scam, just last week, maybe 2 weeks we used his service on 1 of our new servers that was installed as we where super busy an did not have time to do some upgrades.

He did them 1,2,3 without a single problem and YES you pay after he does the work.

We where happy that sometime this week we will be sending him a few more servers to do upgrades on as we find it cheaper and faster to just have him do them.Well, what a crying shame to have such a good testimonial thread ruined with all of that blah blah blah.

Since you all asked ;) Steve has been my server admin since March of 2004 -- when I got my first dedicated server. I am not a reseller, I just have a large message board that requires its own box.

Steve has been with me through thick and thin, now on box #4. He has always been there when I needed help and has spent an extraordinary amount of time over the years proactively making sure that everything was as fine tuned as it could possibly be.

I can't say enough about Steve's professionalism and work ethic. I won't even get into his knowledge not only in working with Linux systems, but in optimizing them for vBulletin usage. IMO, it is unparalleled.

Thanks for everything, Steve. :)I've hired Steve from Rack911 in April for an apache issue (eaccelerator was causing was doing things to it, but I didn't know what the issue was), and Steve started the work straight away without accepting any payments, and after about 10-15 minutes he told me that the eAccelerator version that I had installed wasn't compatible with the PHP version I had installed, and he fixed the problem and apache started and worked properly. And after I was happy I paid him. That 13 year old child mcipdns is just trying to ruin Steve's business, But so far he has only gotten himself a "Temporarily Disabled" status.MiniSteve might not have said it, but I will f*** off.......Steve looked into an issue for me, and didn't ask for payment.

If the communication issues are sorted, he'll never be without work (as he posted). Everyone needs a person who knows what he is doing.I can attest to that, Steve don't accept payment even if you are happy with the job, if he feels he can do it better or he thinks that it is unnecessarily delayed.

I never said that mcipdns and you know it. His is my aim log:

Do you want to know the kind of business man I am? I am the kind that does not accept any payment until the customer is happy.A while ago I wanted to sign up with Rack911 however they ignored my emails time and time again and didn't answer. Eventually steve told me someone would give me more info and they never did, so I gave up with Rack911 and hired someone else. Shame.Thats a shame because he really really does good work Hostex. I believe that what happens sometimes is he gets too much being asked of him and most peoples preference would be to have the work committed to done first before more sales. The majority of complaints against him is in the sales area, I don't think you will find someone who says that he screwed something up. I am sure there are other great admins but personally I will always use Steve even if I have to wait a bit.A while ago I wanted to sign up with Rack911 however they ignored my emails time and time again and didn't answer. Eventually steve told me someone would give me more info and they never did, so I gave up with Rack911 and hired someone else. Shame.
Perhaps this was when he had the communication issues? Sometimes steven seems to be a little too in demand.Steve is very good at what he does. He's terrible with communication though.OH no hes launching an attack on me.. Oh wait my harddrive just failed :( What a weekend.OH no hes launching an attack on me.. Sorry to hear your troubles. I noticed that your site was down aswell, so I thought that the immature person who tried to ruin your business was DoSing you, but I guess your HDD failed. I hope you get your problems sorted.

MiniOH no hes launching an attack on me.. Oh wait my harddrive just failed :( What a weekend.

They always fail during the weekend. Best of luck with your hard drive failure its really a pain in the wazoo sometimes.I've haven't needed Rack911's services yet. But from the posts I've read of Steven's in the technical section, the guy really knows his stuff. I can tell you he's the first on my list to contact if I ever get into a major pinch.Steven, I have never had a problem with you but just advice, you can take it or not as you wish. A simple "A winner has been selected, mods please lock this thread" would go a long way with those design contests. Even better just saying who was selected or if none was just saying that. I find that those contests have the ability to end up badly as no one is every happy with them.I apreciate the answer Steven. But we were all wondering who is the winner(I would be gratefull if you would let us know who the winner was).I was just trying to point out that sometimes communication is very important in this business.ANMMark on the last one, I am paying him for his attempt even though I am not using the logo. I do not remember on the other one.Rack911, in my personal experience, is the rudest most unprofessional company out there.

Who's to say he wouldn't ignore a customer who's already paid?

When I finally did get his attention on AIM this was his response:

18:07:09 r911steven: you can f--k off, man. I have numerous customers and if I piss away a couple, who cares?

Wow.

I personally think that he's a scam artist, because no intelligent businessman would ignore a potential client. However, it should be noted that that's my opinion strictly.

I would strongly advise any host considering retaining this person's services to think twice, then thrice, and walk away.

It's a safe bet you'll get ripped with this guy.

I wouldn't trust someone who alters their AIM conversations.

Perhaps if you actually were a paying customer then you'd actually be able to comment on his services. Steve does an excellent job and is unrivaled in technical skill.I have never had any communication issues with Rack911. The only thing I notice is that sales requests take a little extra time but is that not to be expected with a company like that -- I think I would rather someone fix something technical than to answer a sales ticket.

Steve has saved my VPS many times :)Just curious, is there more than one person/admin at Rack911 or is it all Steve?JordanSS the winner was contacted. Please stay out of matters that do not concern you.

Ouch. These sorts of messages + poor communication is what keeps me away from Rack911, despite all his technical brilliance. Plus, despite me saying that he never responded to me just a few posts up he hasn't quoted me and said why. Maybe its just me but i think Rack911 is far from perfect. I used to recommend it but now im neutral.I wouldn't trust someone who alters their AIM conversations.

Oddly enough: I've known of and used Steve's services for years now and haven't ever seen him curse once. Every so often I'll jump off of my rocker and start spewing every four letter word I can come up with yet Steven's as calm as can be!

Keep up the good work Steve.
