I know for Scripting, you have Javascript, Perl, PSP, and so on. For coding the page itself, you can use SGML (HTML) or XML (which includes XHTML).
But is CSS language the only styling language there is? Total curiosity. And in interesting question it is too. Y'know, I don't think there are any other style only languages. I certainly can't think of any off the top of my head. Never really thought about it to be honest. Although perhaps it's a good thing. I mean I'm not exactly comfortable with the whole html / xhtml situation we've got going on right now. I know it isn't what you were getting at; but maybe it is a good thing that CSS has the monopoly. Its level of support is not even across the board yet, so I dread to think what throwing another language into the fray might do.
Well....... I suppose there's XSL. But does that really count? Or should it be more the question of: "We have XSL, but there's CSS too. But does CSS count?", seeing as xhtml will supposedly and eventually supercede html.Oh, yes. I forgot about XSL. Hmmm, that does pose interesting possibilities for website design... maybe do page setup in XSL, font display in CSS, or whatever, and use both sheets together...
God, wouldn't THAT be a schizophrenic mess?I actually think that's the idea - that's what you're actually supposed to do with it.
They work together. I was reading about it on the w3c site. (I say this, but I haven't actually tried it).
