Hello Experts,
Can you let me know the below detail
What is the cause, if we didn't redirect our url. For ex: if we put domainname.com on the address bar of the browser, it should automatically go to http://www.domainname.com. But one of my website url is not redirecting like that. If i put the domainname.com on the browser, its going into http://domainname.com. (its showing without the webserver(www))
Please let me know what should I do .... Will it cause any issues in SEO point of view?...Please explain me the details
It would be really useful for all the beginners... I would do a 301 (permanent) redirect from http://domain.com to http://www.domain.com. That would tell the search engines to give all your link juice to http://www.domain.com.
Example:
50% of your backlinks go to http://domain.com and the other 50% go to http://www.domain.com. This means that the total sum of link juice is devided between the to URL. By doing a 301 redirect only one url will get the total sum of link juice and will probably rank better. Right, you need a 301 redirection for the domain name without www. It would be really helpful for your SEO efforts. You could setup in your .htaccess file on via your hosting control interface.

Please let me know what should I do .... Will it cause any issues in SEO point of view?...Please explain me the details Most web hosting is set up that one can access your domain with and without the www prefix. If your other sites didn't have that problem then either who ever set them up for you knew to do a 301 permanent redirect for you or your web hosting "gets" the SEO implications of both versions being available.
As other said, you need a 301 permanent redirect instruction in your .htaccess file. Seeing no one gave you the instructions for this part:
http://www.website-development-training.com/301-permanent-redirect/ to http://www.domain.com.
Thats exactly what I would do if i was you
Thank you so much for all your responses... I would go ahead and do the 301 redirection asap...I would really appreciate this forum and I am thankful to my colleague who introduced this seo community to me... I am learning so many things here.. Nice being here!!!
