Alright was wondering if any of you web designers out there could help me out. I'm trying to decide which keywords to use for my site, but I really don't know how it all works.
Like would it be better to have: "game, game development, game programmer"
or would this be better: "game, development, programmer"
Like I don't understand how search engines use this so any insight would be really awesome.
My website is: berathen.com
If you got any advice on what keywords I should use I would really appreciate it. I'm very new to this all. I would suggest "game, game development, game programmer" . dont split the phrases you want to add. Better go for the first one. To be honest. I would suggest you go for something less in demand...
Your website is new. This means you would have to do alot of SEO/PPC on your website to get the type of traffic your looking for. There's wayyyy to much competition for the keyphrases your targeting. I would suggest you set your sights a little lower first then when your site becomes older and you've done more SEO, you can target the more powerful keywords like you suggested.
One tool I would recommend is Google Keywords https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal , that gives you an idea of what keywords people are searching and the level of competition those keywords have. Have a play with that then make your decision on the keyword you want.
Cheers
P.S I want to believe you meant SEO experts when you said web designers, because web designers can't really help much with keyword selection, unless they're into SEO...
Make it the one which is you have firstly written. Google takes all these keywords differently and it would be better to write them the way you have written in first choice. find some site in your niche, i mean your competitor. go to alexa see their search analytics to know what user are searching on search engines to reach there. Just search your keywords on Google adwords tool and see the competition on that keyword and then choose a proper keyword for your site.
