Promot my forum?with medium traffic

Hi...

i am having a forum nulllab.cn (vb 3.8.2/vb seo 3.3.0)..

and i am unable to promot it so i tried to install vb seo in it to get some traffic from search engines .....

but what still a failure...
so asked my freinds to be the admin and try to promot it and 5 of them were mod admin super admin etcstill all failed at the time of creation my alexa rank was : 4,810,984(was in my hdd saved as text for futer use)

and after 3 days it went to 3.***.** which i dont remember that was of my hard work on having 1000 post within 3 days and @ end of the week that is today my alexa rank is 2,857,984 there is a big difference but still i can see any users then were did i get ?? i am having 60-30 users online per time(max)

and i am unable to promote it @ maximum can anybody tell me how to promot mine and secret of yours pls....

You're going about it the wrong way, basically. Your forum is too ambitious. You have forums about games, movies, music, hardware, internet marketing, web development, freelancing, everything. Nobody in their right mind is going to advertise their freelancing services in a forum that has more top level forums than members, mostly unrelated content and some of it illegal. However, if you launch a forum, dedicated to freelancing, and work hard at promoting it, they just might.

Specialise. Pick one thing and do it well, for example, be THE place to go for hiring a freelancer; that alone is an ambitious venture before even considering all the other topics you try to include. If that's successful you can branch out into related topics - web design, coding, internet marketing etc. Just be organic with your expansion; if a lot of your members appear to be asking how to market their site, then open an IM section. Don't try to be all things to all men, because each topic you involve will get blasted out of the water by specialised forums elsewhere, with 1000x the content.

Your forum will be successful as you seem to work very hard at trying to make that happen; it's important just to work smart as well as hard.

Keep the bit you care most about and will feel easier and more passionate talking about. Download section can be difficult because the success of it is based heavily on the amount of files you have. Hosting as lot of files can be expensive, and you're competing with other, older forums with 10,000x the amount of files.
