Botswana Okavango Explorer Daily Itinerary
Anticipated itinerary, actual route may vary.
Africa抯 third longest river begins in Angola and ends in Botswana where it provides a haven with freshwater for local wildlife and tourists alike. The Okavango is known as the 憆iver which never finds the sea?as its freshwater evaporates and seeps into the Kalahari sands, disappearing in the Okavango Delta. Experience the real Botswana as you stay in bush camps in Botswana抯 National Parks. These camps are not open to the general public. There are no on-site facilities, but the guides will bring a portable bush shower and bush toilets will be dug. Your guides will prepare wonderful meals for you over an open campfire, and you can then retire to your dome tent for a peaceful evening. (Itinerary reversed on some departures.)
Day 1 Maun
Your guide welcomes you at the airport in Maun, gateway to the Okavango Delta. Transfer to a nearby Bush Camp. After purchasing drinks and completing last minute shopping in preparation for the remainder of the safari, you will have the option (for an additional fee) to be taken by chartered aircraft for an aerial view of the Okavango Delta [not on reverse itinerary]. Return to camp and relax around a campfire under the bright stars of the southern hemisphere. Sleep in dome tents. (D)
Days 2-3 Maun-Okavango area of Moremi Wildlife Reserve
Explore the northeastern corner of the Okavango Delta, an area reserved for wildlife and the protection of the delta. The Moremi Wildlife Reserve is a wetland area delineated to the west by Chiefs Island and to the east by the Moremi Peninsula (or Moremi Tongue). A large variety of habitats are present in this region, including: mopane woodland, thorn scrub, dry savanna, riparian woodland, grassland, flood plains, marshes, permanent waterways, lagoons, and islands. It is a pure wilderness area of great beauty with rich green vegetation and palm trees teeming with bird life. The channels are home to a vast population of hippos and crocodile. During the mornings and late afternoons on this journey, you will participate in game drives and boat explorations/cruises on the channels/lagoons. In the heat of the midday you will have a daily rest period, and may wish to bring along games or reading material. (B,L,D)
Days 4-5 Moremi Reserve
Break camp and move to Khwai flood plains, inhabited by a variety of wild animals drawn to the Khwai River. Witness behavioral patterns of local wildlife during your early morning and late afternoon game drives. You may have the opportunity to see cheetah, lions, elephants, buffalo, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, antelope, and birds on your drives. If you are lucky, you might even see the elusive leopard. (B,L,D)
Days 6-9 Chobe National Park
Chobe, created in 1968, contains one of the largest and densest concentrations of wild animals and predators in Africa, particularly lions and hyenas. Vast herds of buffalo, elephant, zebra, kudu, lechwe, and puku feed in these marshes while hippos and crocodiles inhabit the waterways. You may see evidence of some of the deterioration of the local environment caused by heavy animal populations. Chobe is famous for its beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets. In the evenings you may see large herds of elephant drinking at the river. (B,L,D)
Days 10-11 Victoria Falls/Livingstone
Cross into Zimbabwe for a visit to Victoria Falls, "Mosi-oa-tunya" (the Smoke that Thunders) -- one of the natural wonders of the world. This is where the waters of the Zambezi River plummet around 300 feet into the Zambezi Gorge. Some optional activities you may choose (at extra cost) to participate in include: rafting below the falls; canoeing; sunset cruise on the Zambezi River; taking the Flight of the Angels over the falls; hiking; horseback riding; African Spectacular Tribal Dancing; or visiting the Craft Village and Crocodile Farm. You will stay on either the Victoria Falls or Livingstone side. (B)
Day 12 Victoria Falls/Livingstone
Transfer to airport on own (shuttle bus at extra cost) for your return flight. (B)

For some reason, when I try to "load data local infile ..." it skips to the next row entry when it hits the first amount of extra space!!!! I want this text to appear exactly like this when I take it back out from mysql.. the only problem is I can't get it into my table in the first place. My field is defined as "mediumblob" so I should have no problems. Is there anything I can do!!!!!!!! I don't understand why I cannot do this.... There is no formatting. It would look terrible without spacing if accessed from a browser. Please help. Thanks
