Problem: Layer is set to initial state when page is viewed w

Is it possible to keep the current/latest layer visibity state?

Example: On page1.html I can display a layer visibile or hidden with a checkbox. This works fine in a form
After Submit, when the layer is visible, page2.html is loaded.
But when clicked on the back-button, page1.html comes back with the checkbox in it's latest state (checked), but the layer is hidden.

How can the latest layerstate be kept?
