probably a stupid question but icant get it

hi this is probably a really silly question but i am having a problem i cant figure out how to make links to bits within a page like i have an index of subjects at the top and want to link them to the start of that topic on the same page but cant figure out how to do it <br />

i want to link the bit where it says intor so if i click on it it takes me to the introduction and same with the first and second and so on<br />

first part was right, the anchor point where you want the link to goto in the page should be <br />
<br />
<a name="intro"></a><br />
content<br />
<br />
