Is it good/better to have high PR in forum pages?good=more searchable, etc.or a high PR forum page is just abt the same as a low PR forum page in the eyes of SE ?I don't think there is any difference between forum pages and any other page on the web...high PR is high PR...combined with good content those pages will rank high in the serps. I read some speculation that links going out from forums have been devalued....but that's just speculation.....I think there are many useful links from forums...links to articles that cover more of a topic than a post can and links to other web developer sites from forums that deal with site development...as long as their not being abused google would be overlooking some good resources.I would think PR in forum pages would be good for your site ... but by it's very nature would be useless for searches. The problem is that it takes 1-2 months for PR to be assigned. By then the page is either very stale or very long if you don't limit page size.I would concentrate on returning PR to the home and index pages which would be comparatively static. Then focus on keywords highlighting the topics covered. Then the SE will find your site. The SERPS are the same the day before a PR update and the day after a PR update, PR changes all the time, the database is always changing, it only becomes apparent when we see the little green bars moveIf I had a page that was PR5 and it was number 1 for a term, the next day if it got PR6 or PR4 or PR0 or PR10 it would still be number 1Quote:Multiple links per page is quite common. Many sites have a menu at the top and bottom of the page as well as text links scattered about the body.Logically:Only one vote should be counted for each page. A page cannot vote for itself.does it make sense to drain a single page of its PR?if I want to drain a useless page of its PR and channel it to other more important pages, how do I go about it?Not really sure what you are asking here...As a general rule I would NEVER abandon any page with PR. If the PR is decent ... change the info and make it useful. At the very least remove all links and channel it to your home page with a single link.If you want a page with a deliberately low PR create a new page and only link to it from your lowest PR page. Hope this helps...Quote:Any link is a good link ...Every link to your home page it will increase it's page rank by 'some' amount. It does not matter if it is internal or external. Thanks for clearing up the doubts!I was also talking abt sites taht have PR 5-6 on home page and zero PR on other pages.Have seen them around and wonder how they do it and why...The dreaded PR-0 ... see a lot of those pages too. There are many reasons for PR-0 pages. Some are new pages, some have been renamed and many others simply don't have enough links to give them PR. Or ... maybe they just haven't been crawled yet. Then there are the structures that choke off the PR (like Zeus link pages). This is done by providing one link on the home page to a directory page containing dozens of links to categories, then another click before you see the links. BTW - the more categories the less PR passed to the links. Finally we have the pages displayed using scripts. Google can follow some of these, but seems to ingore ones that look like 'pop-up' windows. I haven't figured out the difference yet. lol. the ones I saw online, are done by pple who knows seo.heh heh. its getting so interesting...I do not think number of links matterl think the same, seo on web forums is very usefull for the search engines, and in phpbb its very very important as l think.. good job
