Pointing domain at Weebly or other Web2.0

Say I have a domain at Godaddy.com, mysite.com. I want to build a site at Weebly. I can point to mysite.weebly.com/index.html. But, is that counter-productive? I mean, is it building SEO for mysite.weebly.com/index.html and not mysite.com? Please explain ramifications of this. It's generally a good idea to only point domains to unique, hosted sites. I can fully understand why you would want to do it this way, but the risk of penalty is too great.

Generally Google recommends using 301 redirects, but that's basically to "shut down" a domain and give people who have it bookmarked a chance to find your site. This is not beneficial in any way for SEO.

A better idea might be to create a small site at your domain that scrapes some of your Weebly posts and other items from Web 2.0 sites you belong to. This won't give you much of an SEO advantage either but at least it won't get you penalized. If I just absolutely loved the Weebly interface for building easy, unlimited pages, if I transferred my domain to them, that would be like having a "normal" website, right? What web2.0 advantages would I have being on Weebly?
