I've noticed many site, Google for one, points .net, .org etc to their main .net site. I assume it is not considered duplicate content or in anyway wrong. But I'm sure there's a "right" way to do it that won't get one into trouble with the SEs.Can someone tell me how?SKA redirection with a 301/302 status codeThe 301 code tells the browser/user/bot that http://www.google.net (example) is "Moved Permanently" to http://www.google.comThe 302 code tells the browser/user/bot that http://www.google.net (example) resides temporarily under http://www.google.comHTTP Status code definitionsTo Check witch status is returnedYou can also accomplish this by 'parking' the additional domain(s) with the main one. Many Web Hosts provide a facility for parking additional domains - it helps them to sell more domains! If you have somedomainvariant.com parked against somedomain.com then, any request for somedomainvariant.com/somewebpage.html will be fulfilled by somedomain.com/somewebpage.htmlThere's no duplication of content - just an alternate way to get to it. Note that this could have a negative effect if backlinks to your site use different variations of your domain name, diluting the effective pagerank from those backlinks.
