Hello.
How delicate is it to link to other sites? I mean, like giving references. My site is in Swedish. Is there a risk of getting penalised if I place links to english or now-swedish sites? Unless you link to sites that google identifies as bad, you shouldn't be penalized. Be careful in linking to other site. Link only to sites that is related to yours. If theme is related, i think no problem in adding an English site link on your link page. It is the responsibility of that english site webmaster, who makes a link request to your page. Some people say that english site link is not to add on other language site. You won't get penalized. Also be sure to link with related sites only, for these sites will bring you more traffic. yup you wont as most of the websites nowadays are having multi-lanuage translations. It is oberserved that Google is not giving much value to the backlinks from web directories, so avoid it. But as long as its a natural and quality backlink from a good PR site, everything would be good. just dont link out with good anchor text, instead use 'read more' or 'click here' as you dont want to pass any relevancy! I wouldn't think so. you'll only get penalized once you've linked to bad or adult websites Quote: Originally Posted by thatjeeves Hello.

The only thing, I can think of, that will harm your site is if you will link to a site with a bad reputation, those sites that uses black hat, most likely link farms, stuffing, etc... Can you please explain what your talking about? It sounds like your saying exactly the opposite of conventional wisdom of using relevant anchor text.

I think the problem with bad reputation sites is vastly exaggerated. If this really was true and as common as people act like, then why wouldn't I just put the links of all my competitors onto the "bad" sites and watch them drop out of the SEPS like flies?
