ok i need help i want to use PHP Nuke version 6.0 on my site
i Download ed it and ended up with PHPnuke6.0.tar just this file and nothing else a mate Download ed it and said i had unip the file but i cant do this. I'm new to all this
can you help me please? Do i have to Download it again or send it to a compressed folder?
Thanks
HGWinZip kinda sucks, try another compression utility like Quickzip or something. unzip it like you would any other zip file and away you go. don't forget to read the readmes and all the documentation.
and seriously... there are GAPING security holes in phpnuke (i just got mine hacked the other day, and usually when that happens it means a new leak is being beset by the pirranhas of the underworld and i always end up getting hacked and hacked and hacked again and again! so i'm dumping it entirely). might want to consider something else. postnuke is pretty good.Know what? I Download ed PHPNuke a couple of days ago to play with on my home server. I was disgusted with the number of security holes and, frankly, poorly written code it contained. I couldn't believe that nukesql.php sticks up a message stating "You must ask your hosting company to set register_globals to On"!!!! No mention of the security implications, or that it is highly unlikely a decent hosting company will lower their security standards in order you can run some poorly written software.
Also, this is supposed to a be a professional piece of software! Why doesn't it follow the Model-View-Controller methodology? All the HTML is embedded within realms of PHP which is horrible. If you ask me PHPNuke needs to go back to the drawing board and take a leaf out of some well written PHP projects like:
Invision Board Forums
PEAR
Most Sourceforge projectsok thanks for that might be worth looking into some alternatives i guess
