As I work my way through a lengthy to-do list, I draw closer to the one that reads "Enable members to pay annual dues through the website and while you're at it, capture miscellaneous member info with a form and route it to the membership director, treasurer, and newsletter editor."
So I ask Google for "paypal template" and I discover that there is a whole industry out there selling such templates, some integrated with MySQL and each fancier than the other and most of them budget busters for my little non-profit club ... I read more about what it's going to take to write something from scratch and I think omigod paypal is a full semester 3 hour course. And, I don't find the Paypal site very helpful ... it leaves me in the dark as to just how I can capture the abovementioned miscellaneous information, tie it to payment info, and route it. (That may be a defect of this author rather than the Paypal site, but whatever.)
If there were a "paypal forum" I'd take this posting there ... and I don't expect anyone to develop a solution for me. But I hope it's not asking too much to be pointed in the direction of a site you might know of that has solved these problems and whose scripts I could study and adapt.
