My hosting company mistakenly restored an old backup causing 404 errors for a section of my site. This caused 404 errors for approximately 24 hours.
Within 4 days, Google has removed the pages from their normal index. They were previously ranking in the top 5 positions for target keywords and MANY related keywords.
It's been over 10 days now and the pages haven't come back. The only way I can get google to display them in results is by searching for the exact url, or searching the target keyword phrase plus my sitename and then clicking "show more results" and it's #1 there.
What can I do to solve this? Prolonged Server downtime causes such issue. But if you did genuine seo practice, then you don't need to worry, your site will come topwards very soon. Don't worry, if all else is still the same, Google will return you to your former glory!
