Hi. I'm new to the boards. After reading some of the messages, I thought maybe someone could help answer a question for me.Recently, Google dropped my Angelfire page completely.I'm not sure why. I was ranked well before. But, I thought maybe it has to due with my url being redirected to hide the long angelfire url. So, I bought some hosting. But, Google is only listing my main homepage. It's not showing any of my interior pages. http://www.ancestralbranches.comAny suggestions?Though, my home page is included in Google. The site never comes up in the first couple of pages for any of my keywords. I used to be on page 1 or 2. I read that having more links to your site helps the page rank. I had more links to the Angelfire site. But there are only about 11 to my domain now. I read that I should only get links from related sites. Do you think putting links in Guestbooks will help my page rank ? I haven't found anyone with a related site that wants to add link to a commercial site for free. I'm a small home based business and can't afford to pay for a link.I tried Overture for awhile, but it cost me a forture and didn't help.I think my competitors were clicking away on my link. My business is really hurting due to the loss of the traffic from Google.Any help would be appreciated. My page rank is 4.Sincerely,MelAncestral BranchesProfessional GenealogistJust finished reading a post that said Web Position GOld was the reason their web site dropped in rankings. It made me remember that soon after I downloaded that program and used it for my Angelfire url that the web site disappeared from Google totally. Darn, that Web Position GOld. There should be a warning lable on it.But, now what? -melI would just be patient. How old is your new domain? I see your main page has a pagerank, but your internal pages do not have a pagerank estabilshed yet. It could take up to a month or more to get PR to some of your pages. I would recommend submitting your site to free directories which could help increase inbound links (and PR) to your website. See this post for more information on where you might look to submit:http://www.ozzu.com/other-google-information-and-resources/increasing-your-google-pagerank-t926.htmlHi.My domain is about 3 years old. Google always only included the main domain page.I figured it was because it was being redirected to my Angelfire url. When it did this, my Angelfire url was hidden by my domain name on all pages. However, now I have purchased hosting. And, the domain name doesn't forward to Angelfire. But, Google still only has the main domain listed.Hope that isn't too confusing...I got new hosting about one month ago. So, maybe the change didn't take effect yet on Google. But, I think it did because my web site is no longer listed on any of the first pages for my keywords. Angelfire web site:http://www.angelfire.com/pa/ICouldBeWorking4You/Domain:http://www.ancestralbranches.comOk, here's another big question for all of you.... Should I delete my web pages from my Angelfire account?I know that people say that Google can penalize a web site for having matching content somewhere else (or something like that). However, my Angelfire url is listed on many, many other search engines, directories and personal pages (with a pretty good ranking).Should I delete the information and put a link saying the web site has moved? But, then the page will lose it's ranking on other engines.I'm not sure what to do. Any advise would be very appreciated.Thank you all so much. I'm sorry I've been asking so many questions right after joinging the message forum. Have a wonderful day! Melaniemelaniejk wrote:Hey, guess what?I checked Goggle this afternoon and they have added my Angelfire pages back and they have indexed my other pages on my domain. So, now the subpages are listed. They don't have a page rank yet, but it's a start.Unfortunately, I don't come up on any of the first pages for my keywords except some really long phrases. I wonder if having the same content on Angelfire and my domain are now the problem.THank you all for your input.MelanieHi Melanie, glad to hear you've overcome one of your biggest problems Duplicate content could be considered a problem, especially if the site design/code is a direct copy. Why not just stick with one, and put a note on the other that the page has moved? Or at the least, try changing the content enough so that it isn't considered duplicate....melaniejk wrote:melaniejk,Google has just gone through a huge update and this may have been why you lost much of your rankings. But trust me, you are not the only one this happened too.If your subpages have only just been indexed then that suggests a problem with your URLs.However, your PR0 could be an accurate appraisal - you really need lots of inbound links to justify a good flow of PR through your site pages.
