Page Rank and Backlinks

Hi Guys I am not sure if i am doing the right thing to get backlinks, but is it just a case submiiting my site to directories and exchange linking with other relevant websites. I have been doing this for about 3 weeks and seen on seo tools my links increasing.As yet i have seen none appear under google, but plenty under yahoo and msn. Will they ever appear under google or am i doing something wrong.When do they also update Page Rank, i have a pr of 1 i was hoping that it would of moved up with all this linking and submitting i have done.Hope you can helpPaoloIn order to be on google you will have to be putting your backlinks in very high PR sites or else google will not pick them up because google will not see it as important, unless you have a large quantity of links then you will eventually get picked up by google. Also i would try and write an article and put it up on a site that will increase your PR over time, but just keep at it and it will come but it takes time.Google displays only certain types of links.The ignore links on certain forums, blogs etc. That is the reason why it looks less.Another factor is that Google don't want to display all your links for competitive reasons. They don't want your competitors to see it.
