Outlook vs Groupwise

I am having a problem where I want users to select a name to open up an e-mail page. I do this using the following:

<a href=http://www.htmlforums.com/archive/index.php/"mailto:[email protected]">My E-mail Address

This works fine except for one flaw. The e-mail window that pops open is a Microsfot Outlook window, and our e-mail system is not Outlook, but Novell's Groupwise.

Is there some kind of setting/configuration I need to make so that the Groupwise e-mail window pops open instead of Outlook? In Internet Explorer, I changed the e-mail settings (under Internet Options) to default to Groupwise, instead of Outlook. But, this is on my own workstation. I want this setting to be for everyone using the application.

BTW: this application I am using is running on a intranet, and is not going to be shared to non-intranet users. DOn't know if that makes a difference, but I figured I would mention it.

Any ideas is much appreciated. Thanks! You may be able to do it in the server-side but it may get sticky.
Does everyone in the system have Outlook? If they don't it won't be a problem. The site will just run the default.
Good Day!if you are running groupwise then why is outlook installed? just delete outlook and it should do it anymore. It's actually not that easy. GroupWise 5.2 and older will not work with mailto links, and I think 5.5 won't either. Microsoft has Outlook express shoved in so good that if it is Outlook that is poping up, as soon as it is removed Express will come up.
If you look under tools > Internet Options and Programs tab, you will notice there is no way to set anything else as the default e-mail client.Originally posted by sherpa
...If you look under tools > Internet Options and Programs tab, you will notice there is no way to set anything else as the default e-mail client. There is actually a way to add additional programs, but it involves editing the Registry (see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defau ... layout.asp ).

I did find a way to do it once that was a little simpler than MS's explanation (although the effect was still the same) but unfortunately I can't find it at the moment.
