Hello SEO experts,
I am making new website for laptops.
My client needs laptop detail page with tabbed navigation like
[Laptop Details], [Technical Specification], [Reviews], [Pictures].
only [Laptop Details] Tab will be active by default.
Other Tabs will be hidden via CSS ( or May be via Jquery).
On clicking on other tabs it will be visible and visible one will be Off.
now My question is there will be content in Tabs [Technical Specification], [Reviews], [Pictures]. Will these content be useful for indexing?
If keyword is placed in other Tabs which are hidden (by default) will make sense for Search engines ?
Kindly advise. I would like to say that I think this is not hidden text at all. Years ago we used black hat techniques such as 1 text pixel, meaning hidden text. In your case this is normal text that google bot will find with first visit. For example I pointed Virtuemart, which has a similar navigation with tabs. I personally have several projects that are based on Virtuemart and I have no problems with indexing.
i think this is a black hat seo that will get you banned from google fastly before getting the position you want so be careful Hidden Text is not legal according to Google and considered Black Hat Seo. If it is discovered you can be penalized by google for doing this tactic. Not a good idea in my opinion. Hey case and mimo... It isn't like the thread was so long you didn't have time to read it. If you read the op or the first reply, what's being discussed is not really hidden text in the traditional sense. She is not talking about hidden pixels or white on white text.
If you only have time to reply to the title, don't bother posting please. It just confuses the thread. If you're hiding text by making it the same colour as your background so that your users don't see it but the search engines do (to try and trick them for good SERPs) then it's a definite no no. But as you are saying it is to do with improving your usability for your users, the content is visible on your site when you tab between it, so it shouldn't be a problem. I have similar tabbed content on my site and have not experienced any negative effects in my page SERPs Beware of Hidden text, they can get you banned from search engines Quote: Originally Posted by Nate55 http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/244997-page-optimization-hidden-text-will-help.html#post1638206 Thanks to all
