i'm still lost on this one. what is ODBC??? yes, i know it's an acronym for "Open Database Connectivity". I'm really wanting to know the viewers choice for what tools to use and hwat server extentions I should have installed so it works right from the start. It seems every time I begin to retrive and post data to a database inside an Access file, everything will go completely crazy. I'm blaming microsodt for my problems today... they have enough $ on hand not to worry what i'm doing with anything.

i need a break from everything
chris<pixelmonkey>:DI would recommend that you Download and use a file called adovbs.inc for your access db interactions.

You can find this on <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.4guysfromrolla.com">http://www.4guysfromrolla.com</a><!-- m --> and they also have some VERY VERY good articles on using ASP and databases.

But if access is crapping, the adovbs.inc file may resolve some of your issues (especially if your writing to the db!!)

hthGive Macromedia's Dreamweaver UltraDev a try!
